Can Decaf Coffee Cause Heartburn?

As one of the millions of coffee lovers who also struggle with heartburn, I often wonder – can decaf coffee cause heartburn? According to research results and my personal experience, I can conclude that, even when switching to decaf to avoid caffeine, sometimes you’ll still get that painful burning feeling in your chest and throat after drinking it.

Although the caffeine amount is lower, decaf still contains acids that can trigger acid reflux.

Acidity – Decaf coffee for acid reflux sufferers still contains acids like chlorogenic acid that can stimulate acid production and cause reflux. Dark roasts are generally less acidic.
